Huntingdon, St Ives & St Neots

Huntingdonshire is located at the centre of our LEP area, and covers approximately 350 square miles of lush Cambridgeshire countryside encompassing the highest provision of commercial and industrial floorspace in Cambridgeshire. The economy is driven by the four market towns of Huntingdon, Ramsey, St Ives and St Neots, and around 100 villages.

The local economy has developed successfully over the years, particularly in knowledge based industries, and has demonstrated strong resilience during the recessionary period.

Proximity to Cambridge means that a significant number of people benefit from the districts lower property prices and commute out of the district for work. The area has excellent transport links via the A1 (M), A14 and a network of local roads, as well as frequent rail links to London and the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway service into Cambridge and other villages en route.

Entrepreneurialism is strong in Huntingdonshire with self-employment levels above regional and national average and businesses based in the district demonstrated higher 5+ year survival rates than national, regional and all other Cambridgeshire district averages.
