Major figures to speak at London-Stanstead-Cambridge-Corridor launch conference

The 11th June sees the launch of the London-Stansted-Cambridge Corridor Consortium (LSCC) at a major conference in Kings Cross.

This corridor links the world’s leading university (Cambridge) with the world’s leading city (London).  They are connect by extensive rail and road links that shape commuter journeys and supply chains, and provide a positive platform for smart and green growth. In the middle of this corridor is Stansted International Airport that has the required infrastructure and existing planning agreement to double its size of activity without any expansion – its current un-used capacity representing a quarter of that of the whole of Heathrow.

The LSCC brings together local public and private sector bodies in the corridor to champion and lobby for the region.

The day will see a range of speakers debating how we can capitalise on the assets of the corridor and drive forward our high value economy and quality of life.

Speakers include Rt Hon Greg Clark MP, First Secretary to the Treasury and Minister for Cities; Jim Fitzpatrick MP, opposition spokesperson for Transport; MPs David Lammy, and Charles Walker; and Deputy Mayor of London Kit Malthouse.

The programme features  the chairs of the four business-led Local Economic Partnerships that cover the Corridor – Grahame Nix, Chair Greater Cambridge LEP; John Gourd, Chair, Hertfordshire LEP; John Spence, Chair, South East LEP; Harvey McGrath, Co-Chair, London LEP. Many more political and business figures from up and down the Corridor will also speak– including the new MD of Stansted Airport, Andrew Harrison, speaking for the first time about Manchester Airport Group’s perspective on the Davies Review, alongside Daniel Moylan, Boris Johnson’s aviation advisor, and Baroness Jo Valentine, CEO of London First.

Chair of the LSCC, Greg Clark, says:

“The launch of the London Stansted Cambridge Corridor Consortium is an important moment for the Greater South East. This region, with an economy built on the high-tech, clean, green, and knowledge economy, has the potential to drive growth nationally. It is an investment opportunity like no other, and with the local and regional bodies starting to come together with a shared vision and common agenda, it can provide a genuine and compelling opportunity for all.”
