Signpost 2 Skills has been designed by the LEP to connect businesses, training and education providers to develop the workforce of the future. The LEP works with several partners to deliver Signpost 2 Skills and the focus of the work is about improving connectivity between schools, employers and young people and providers in order to ensure that our businesses can recruit and retain an appropriately skilled workforce.
We are working with a number of our schools to strengthen and develop their strategic plans around careers enterprise and employability. This service is run in partnership with the Careers Enterprise Company, and is free to schools. In addition, the LEP also provides a brokerage service to schools to help them to engage with employers, providers and colleges to implement their plans for careers enterprise and employability.
We currently have two partners that are funded to deliver this Signpost 2 Skills brokerage service;
- In the Greater Cambridge area (Cambridge, South Cambridgeshire, and East Cambridgeshire), Form the Future has been funded since January 2016 by the LEP and the Greater Cambridge City Deal. Find out more here.
- In Peterborough, Rutland, Fenland, Huntingdonshire, East Cambridgeshire, South Holland, South Kesteven and West Norfolk The Skills Service, which is part of Opportunity Peterborough, has been funded by the LEP. Find out more here.
